Flagship Partners Celebrate Their Youngest Transport Manager’s Success

Flagship Partners are proud to announce their support of their youngest delegate to pass the challenging Transport Manager CPC exam.

Jesse Cobley, who turned eighteen very recently, has been working in his family-run haulage business, Richard Cobley Transport Ltd, for the past two years.  He trained for the extremely difficult exam whilst seventeen and took the exam shortly after his eighteenth birthday.

From a young age, Jesse has always aspired to be part of the family business and has steadily grown in his role. Now, with a Transport Manager qualification under his belt, he is set to contribute even more to the business and fulfil his future aspirations.

Jesse said, “Gaining the Transport Manager qualification has meant a lot to me and has lifted a significant weight off my shoulders. My role will change dramatically now that I’m a certified Transport Manager. This includes handling more responsibilities, especially when sending lorries across the water.”

The family firm, based in Peterborough, was established in 2007. Managing Director, Richard Cobley (Jesse’s proud Dad) began his career in the agricultural industry, where he worked for several years before obtaining his HGV licence in November 1993. Richard then spent fourteen years driving for various haulage companies before achieving his dream of founding his own family business. As the company expanded, Richard decided to step away from driving and join his wife Rachel in the office.

Reflecting on his son’s recent achievement, Richard said, “I hardly know where to begin, but as parents, we are incredibly proud of our children. Personally, I feel privileged and lucky to have both my sons working with me in an industry that is more than just a job for us—it’s a way of life.”

He added, “After leaving school at sixteen, Jesse attended college two days a week and worked in the office with me on the other days. However, after just a few weeks, Jesse realised that college wasn’t for him, so he joined me full-time and quickly mastered the job. Not only did he pass his International Transport Manager CPC this month, but he also earned his Class 1 HGV licence. At eighteen, he has clearly chosen the right career path.”

Speaking about the course, Jesse added, “It was a very challenging course, but with the support from Flagship Partners, it became more manageable and understandable. I would highly recommend Flagship Partners to anyone I speak to. The team is easy to get along with—there’s plenty of banter, but when it comes to work, everyone brings their own professional touch.”
