Paediatric First Aid is the term given to providing First Aid specifically to infants and children.
There are some areas of general First Aid that can be applied when First Aid needs to be given to an older child, however First Aid for infants is rather different and requires specific training which we will provide you during your course.
What are the responsibilities of a Paediatric First Aider?
As a Paediatric First Aider, your responsibilities are similar to those of a standard First Aider, however your skillset will be much more suited to the immediate treatment of a young patient prior to the arrival of qualified medical assistance.
In varying situations, these skills could include the application of the modified recovery position, the different method to check for a response from an infant or a young child, and/or the different format for carrying out CPR on infants.

Who is the course for?
Any adult can take the course, however it is particularly useful for people who work in childcare, such as nannies, nursery staff, and childminders.
During your career in childcare, current and future employers will look for individuals who have demonstrated commitment and competence in their duty of care to the children they look after, when considering people for new roles. Our Ofsted and EYFS approved Paediatric First Aid course is the perfect way to demonstrate this.
Can I take this course if I am not already a first aider?
The course does include basic First Aid principles and it is not necessary to be first aid qualified before you take the course, however, if you feel you would benefit from having an additional first aid qualification, you can attend one of our first aid at work courses.
What do I get out of it?
Once you have successfully completed both the online and offline sections of our Paediatric First Aid course, you will receive a certificate of successful completion, which you can use to provide your employer proof of competence.
More importantly, you will receive the knowledge, confidence, and ability to stay calm and focused during an emergency situation and treat injured or unwell children and infants in the best possible way before professional assistance arrives.
Bring a friend
If you have a friend or family member who would also like to attend the Paediatric First Aid course on the same day as yourself, we will extend a discount to you and your friend.
